In the Sentinel, Casca rescues an Alpine village from raiders, and afterwards climbs the mountains, wanting to be alone, and finds a cave where he will seat himself and freeze for decades, becoming The Sentinel, watching over the valley and village below.

Beginning today, the pictorial story of Casca 9: The Sentinel. The book begins with a meeting of the Brotherhood in 485AD. This fact alone gives me a headache, for this story follows on directly from the events of The Damned which ended in 453AD. No matter, if you ignore that, then follow the story. The elder is about to berate the gathering for losing sight of Casca Longinus.

Alright Casca fans, I tried to do something new but the effing AI platforms sabotaged it halfway through. However, I have done half of a planned taster for the new Casca book coming out end of August, and its below. The book is Casca 65: The Seeker and its been written by both John L. Thompson and myself. Its not the complete one I planned, but I did get this much done before it was taken away from me.

The Khmer Rouge are taken by surprise, and the sacrifice of Huan leaping into the engine room with a can of gasoline destroys the launch from within. Casey, Yu Li and Van watch as the launch sinks. George is unconscious. Casey can now sail to Malaysia knowing their mission is complete.

Despite evading the launch to begin with, eventually it catches up with the sampan out at sea beyond Cambodia's territorial waters and Casey and the others face a tough choice but they do have some explosives left.

Colonel Lon of the Khmer Rouge does not give up that easily and speeds past the sampan and commandeers a Khmer Rouge naval gunboat on the river to intercept the sampan.

After rescuing the Chinese family and Van, the three mercenaries enter the river nearby to steal a sampan in order to get down the river to the coast and escape the Khmer Rouge.

The Khmer Rouge catch the group up after the Kamserai are dismissed and split from Casey's group. With Van, Huan, Yu Li and her mother captured, Casey and George decide to whittle down the Khmer numbers.
