The final act for Faer in the story was to deal with the man behind the regime and she confronts him in his quarters, a magician. There is a tough fight to the death and here you can see Faer isn't going to get away unscathed.

Finally she ends after being rewarded by a grateful young king and his court. Events are set up for the next book in the story, Okra's Tower. ... See MoreSee Less

The running feud between Faerowyn and Heller reaches its conclusion when they have to fight alongside each other in the climactic fight against the royal army force that had been chasing them from the forest. They both came to realise the other was better than they had given one another credit in the first place.

Later Faer returned to Gorrodan and had to sneak in, and getting past locked gates and guards would have frustrated most people, but the magic-using Faerowyn had other means in getting around these problems. ... See MoreSee Less

Getting through the dead city was very hazardous but finally Faer broke free, the last of the survivors to get away. Here she is being pursued by some of the dead who want to claim her and make her one of them. The second scene is the survivors being finally caught up by the pursuing royal army close to their last hideout. Things seem hopeless but Faerowyn has a few magical tricks up her sleeves. ... With all lost cities in a fantasy tale, its almost inevitable there would be many hostile creatures in it and in Heir of Gorrodan the lost city of Caldok was no exception. Having escaped the lizardmen and for the moment keeping ahead of their pursuers from the king, the group encounter the kaldeen, a nasty race of beings that attack everything they meet.

Here you see Faer, Captain Lace, Heller and the rest battling the kaldeen before they can escape across a narrow bridge. Later the survivors find rest deeper in but now are being hunted by the undead. Faer, being part dark elf, can animate the dead and here you see her practicing her necromancy on the bones of a long-dead monster. ... See MoreSee Less

The city of Caldok was once the centre of a great empire but had long since faded and only ruins were left now. Faer, Captain Lace and the others had to fight their way through a horde of lizardmen to get to safety, with King Jerethal's soldiers still on their tail.

The first picture you see the fight across the top of the lost city, and the second sees the survivors recovering in one of the chambers below. One of the men, Heller, actively dislikes Faerowyn and believes she's a spy for King Jerethal. ... See MoreSee Less

The twisted devious game of politics in Heir of Gorrodan is further revealed when Faerowyn and Via are taken to the leader of those who have captured them and it turns out to be Captain Lace, Faer's friend and saviour from book 1. The first picture shows their meeting.

Afterwards, while being pursued by King Jerethal's men, Captain Lace, Faer and the others are entering the lost city of Caldok and are attacked by one of the predatory creatures that live in the forest. ... See MoreSee Less

All through writing Heir of Gorrodan I was mindful of keeping to the main storyline, even though this was a departure from her main quest. I used this story to develop Faerowyn into a top notch warrior and magic-user, and for her character to grow and mature. She had to face adversity and challenges, so I piled them up on her throughout this novel. The following two pictures demonstrate this.

First, she and Via encounter a group of creatures in the forest, loscurs, who are violent and aggressive. Time for Faer to use her skills. Secondly, shortly afterwards the two are confronted and taken captive by a large group of soldiers and what future she has is seriously in question at that point. ... See MoreSee Less

The Heir of Gorrodan (Dark Blade 2) has Faerowyn trying to work out who is who and what agendas they have, as nobody seems to be who they say. She goes on the king's mission with a group of well-armed soldiers to the Losingar Forest, a dark forbidding place where many who go in do not return.

Here Faer is pondering on her next move as they face the forest, and the second picture is her inside the forest with Via, an expert scout provided her by the king's soldiers. ... See MoreSee Less

In The Heir of Gorrodan, Faerowyn returns to the Kingdom of Gorrodan, her home kingdom, to find it has had a civil war and a new king is on the throne. She finds out that the new king is looking for skilled mercenaries to help him in an important matter so she travels to the capital, Gorrodan City.

The first picture she is in the town of Portris and the proctor there is telling her she needs to go to see the king, and the second picture is her arriving at the court of King Jerethal. The chamberlain is urgently telling her to show respect but Faerowyn, knowing of her heritage, is not so awed by royalty. ... See MoreSee Less

I've enjoyed my pictorial version of my novel Dark Blade, and am continuing with the next one, The Heir of Gorrodan, book 2. Here the story picks up a few weeks after the end of Dark Blade and sees Faerowyn, now no longer a raw, naive, helpless outcast from her fishing village, stalking some bandits in a forest. It ends badly for the bandits as you can see. ... See MoreSee Less
