Hello Tony! Could you do a Western Casca? possibly as a survivor of Custer’s Last Stand, or the Lincoln County Wars, or as a member of the Confederate guerilla outfit Quantrill’s Raiders, or as an Apache fighter in the Southwest ? Been a fan of Casca since the late 70s, unfortunately, It’s no longer available here in the Islands. |

Izram – what islands are those? You can buy Casca books from me direct if you like! Custer’s Last Stand is definitely a story I’ve got in mind for a future story – see my timeline. |

Tony has decided that it would be a good idea to write a Casca western? A fan of his suggested the same thing about four years ago. Ok Kev, take it easy. Breath deep. In goes the good air, out goes the bad….. |

A lot has gone on in the last 4 years. The only Western so far attempted was the plagiarised Outlaw from Michael Goodwin, and since its withdrawal there have been plans to replace it with another Western story. Custer would be a good one, so maybe in the future there will be such a story. |

I was kind of hoping that a few gun owning, beer drinking Americans would “ditto” my desire to see Casca spend more time in the American west. Nope—reckon not. Oh well…. |

Kevin, when I did the two surveys to the fans way back about what time period people wanted, the American west was not one of the more popular subjects. If it had then we would have had a story or two. |

Good point Tony, but I’d like to know how much interest was shown in Michael Goodwin’s western before it became generally known that he did a crappy writing job. Don’t forget my English friend that thousands of western movies and TV episodes have been made in this country. Why? I can’t answer that question without getting on my soap box about what made America great so I’ll just let the numbers speak for themselves. |

I have no idea about sales figures as I was not involved with the selling of Outlaw, and the man who was is now deceased so that will never be known. When you have a series that covers 2,000 years of world history, people generally want more exotic locations and either more modern wars or long ago conflicts. When I was hired to write originally back in 2005, I was told to write a sequence of stories beginning with the Americna Civil War and carrying on with solely American history going through the 1860s, 70s, 80s and 90s. This never got beyond the civil war because of popular demand from readers who wanted other stories from other times, and I may point out that 95% of Casca readers/buyers are from North America. |

I know this will make me look mule headed (Which generally only happens when I get photographed right out of bed) but I must point out that few Americans ever read anything about the Roman Empire until Casca came along. |

Hello from Sweden. I enjoy the books and this series should get someone like HBO to make a series |

Hello Sweden! We have quite a large following from your country, and I do know that the first 13 Casca books were printed in Swedish back in the 1980s. Yes, HBO would do a decent job given the budget, but the temptation will always be to do it ‘cheaply’ as they did with the Highlander series – setting it in modern days and having the occasional ‘flashback’. Casca would only be best served if they stuck to the book plots and having it set in the past. |
