ALL of us Casca fans know how the rest of THAT line turns out. It’s the signature expression of the entire Casca series, the true starting point of Our Hero.
I had an email exchange very recently with someone, and the subject of LATIN came up, and it occurred to me, NOBODY has EVER translated this (back) into its original Latin, from whence it came in the first place.
So I thought that I, the great Yours Truly, would give it a shot, and here’s what I have:
“Soldate, tu es contentus cum quo tu es, sic tu restabis dum iterum coimus.”
My verbs are GOOD, and I think my Latin word order is pretty good and elegant. And I’ve just now edited this posting, a day after I posted it, because I figured out how to use a comprehensive Latin grammar I have in my library, and I took out a minor error in the above quote which I’d posted yesterday, so I’m confident that this quote is PRETTY good.
If anyone thinks they can improve it, please don’t hesitate.
