I wrote this review for Amazon recently:
The Last Stand Of The Eastern Roman Empire
This tale of Casca, The Eternal Mercenary, occurs when the Turks captured Constantinople in 1453, the last remnant of Eastern Roman civilization. Casca joins the defenders against impossible odds to try to save his connection to his original life as a Roman soldier. The book is full of action, from bar fights to clashing armies on the walls of Constantinople. He falls in love with a local gal, which adds tension to the story in that will Casca be able to protect her life during the Turkish attacks. Like the other Casca books by Roberts in this series, it is historically researched and gives a vivid feeling that you’re actually on scene during these exciting historical events. Highly recommended.
